Control Systems are those that manage the dynamic behavior of mechanical devices or systems to cause a controlled response based on current input conditions. Decisions are made by the controller based on sensor inputs which can provide a variety of data such as position, temperature, acceleration, pressure, strain, etc. Input data is processed by the controller which in turn responds with stimulus to the mechanical system to change its behavior via actuators. Control systems can be of analog or digital type depending on the application and desired response characteristics.
